My 2015 Imp. has 3 12V. power outlets (formerly known as cigarette lighter plugs). The problem is all 3 require the key to be in and in an "on" position to be activated. This is OK on the one in the dash since it will turn off any accessory I may have plugged in there such as a GPS. But, I have a 12V. car vac and a 12V. tire pump I occasionally use. To use them, the key must be on and when the key is on and a door is open that gong keeps clanging away. It gets extremely annoying to hear a loud Bong, Bong, . . . all the time I'm vacuuming the floors but I haven't figured out a way to do that with all the doors closed. The ideal solution would be to have one outlet always "hot" and not requiring the key. It could be used as a 12V. power source without having to have the car running.
So, any thoughts or helpful suggestions?

 

One of them will have to be rewired to a power source that is hot all the time. Just make sure that when this is done the outlet is still fused. Never by pass a fuse!

 

I'd just start the engine. the electrical motors will operate better with the higher voltage of a running engine and the draw won't discharge the battery.
