I just went to a mechanic today because i noticed what i thought was oil on my alternator and around my belt. i sat there for an hour and he told me that i had no oil leak but, my water pump was leaking profusely. Is there anything that i can check to make sure he isn't trying to rip me off. it doesn't make sense because i drove to Delaware (8 hrs there and back) yesterday and i drove it all day today and it never over heated. i just want to make sure he didn't do anything to make it look like my water pump is bad.

 

I changed the water pump on my 05 impalla here the other day. It was very inexpencive. Only took about 30 mins. Easy on these if ya wana knowI can walk though it for you.

 

clean the area so its dry.
check level in radiator- and overflow bottle.
drive around.
then use a white napking to dry off any stuff that appears... the color and smell can tell you what it is.
