I have had a love/hate relationship with my K5 for over a decade. Well I am in for the long haul and a couple of years ago I replaced the rear leaf springs. I bought some from JC Whitney, and well the front end sits higher than the rear. When I took the old springs out there were blocks between the leafs and the axle. I figured they were aftermarket so I left them out. Now since I am going to hold on the the vehicle I think they were suppossed to be there. Am I right? Just wondering because the front had no blocks at all. I still have the blocks so its no problem to put them back in. Just want some answers here.

It's not unusual to see a K5 with the front higher than the rear, I have a 87 K5 and I put blocks on the rear to level it out. I would imagine that you are talking about 2" or 3" blocks.

 

yea..sounds like lift blocks to level it out.. no extra parts left over when working

 

Thanks forthe input guys. I guess I will put those lifting blocks back in. Funny thing is, when I compared the new springs to the old ones, the new ones were shorter in length in comparison to the old, therefore lifting the truck the same. That is why I opted to leave the blocks out. It was that way initially too, the truck sat level, then it changed after a few months. The springs may have been cheap and sagged fast.

i'd say the springs got "broke in" so the height went down a little
