Default Running rich

I was just wondering if anyone knows what may cause this 92 k1500 blazer if mine to run rich. I can see it maybe running rich at cold start up until it warms up to temp, but then it should lean out a bit. this thing has a very strong gas smell after running for a while. I checked out the tbi today but I really know very little about it. Thanks guys for any help, everyone here has been really nice to this new chevy owner{former ford guy}.

is your check engine light on? if so the 02 sensor could be shot, if not then do a tune-up

Have you tired using a reader for the computer? Autozone, Kragen or Oreileis any of the auto parts stores should have one you could use in their parking lot.
Plug it in and see what comes up.

I will check out autozone, orielliys did not have one the would work because of the year the blazer was made. if it was newer they could have checked it. They have a hand-held unit that works with obd1 and obd2 systems but it cost $200. I do not really want to spend that much for one.

there is a few things that could cause problems that i have seen before, and heres a few things you can do
1) look at the way the injectors squirt at idle, they should be a cone shape and very uniform, if they are dripping, or not spraying nicely try injector cleaner and see if it helps
2) there is a little flap in the air cleaner intake tube, there should be a heat transfer tube leading from the exhaust manifold to the bottom of the flap, if it isnt there the flap wont open and chokes your engine, i usually tear the flap right out, they are a nuciance and end up not working properly and choking the engine when the tube is missing
check those out and let us know what happens

Thanks 2wd k5, I will look at those things you mentioned my friend. Once I get this straightened out I got to tackle the dang knocking problem, but all is well. I will have to post a picture of my blazer very soon. She does look prety good to be a 1992 model. On a side note, i used a wool buffing pad on my drill aboutr 1.5 weeks ago to remove some acid rain staina on the windows. Well litle did I know that the stuff i used to clean it with was causing swril marks on the glass. When I saw it in the direct sunlight it look bad, man how crazy was that. I had to order a glass polishing kit from summit. I am going to use that this weekend. Anyway, I thought you might find that funny, my wife did.
