Hey all,

bought a 02' malibu not too long ago and have had the theft system kick in on me. If I get in the car but, don't start it right away the system kicks in and shuts fuel off to the engine. I use my car for business so, I can't risk the car not being able to start if I am between clients. Anyone had this happen? Anyone know how to fix it without costly repair bills? Thanks!

 

turn the key on(do not start the engine), and watch the security light. Is it flashing? If so leave the key on for an aditional 10 minutes, or until the light stops flashing. Then turn the key to the off position, and start it up.

 

The theft light is not flashing. Just stays on. I tried waiting 10 minutes with the ignition off and doors locked with no luck. It usually goes weeks between fits.

 

Took it to the dealership today. I was told the theft system was not at fault. It was the ignition switch. Only $325. OUCH[]
