New to the forum... sure could use some help with a 2004 malibu. I replaced the rack and pinion and tie rods on the malibu, and when i put it all back together, the new rack had a major problem .... it was like the gear inside was stripped. It allowed the steering wheel to just spin without turning the wheels. This also caused the check engine lite to come on. It was a re-manufactured rack from autozone ( bad choice of parts store i know now ). Bud I did buy another re manufactured rack from NAPA and it works great.... and the check engine lite went out but now the service airbag lite is on..... Is it possible there was a wire that broke in the steering column when the steering wheel kept spinning around and around?
Please help... Im lost and would really appreciate any and all suggestions.
