2000 Malibu head lights and service engine light

2000 Malibu head lights and service engine light
Hi,
I have 2000 malibu, having some trouble with the headlights.When the car is started I can see the lights to bedim but when I gas itI can see the lights to get brighter.This happens for few minutes and also when the brakes are applied the lights seem to get dimmer and when again gased it get brighter.I replaced my batteries and still does the same.And alsothe service engine light comes up sometimesand goes off and I'm not sure what's going on. Please help.
