2000 Malibu run away cruise control
Sorry if this has been covered but Im sick with food poisioning on theroadin Sri' Lanka and about to crash out HARD.
I live in Hawaii and my girlfriend back home has a 2000 Chevy Malibu with about 90,000 mile on it. She just told me this morning that her cruise control is "running way". She is cruising at speed the car will accelerate fairly abruptly and she has to stomp the brake or pop it in Neutral to deactivate cruise. Its also doing the oposite. It's slowing down to about 35mph and wont accelerate via the pedal under cruise.
I've been looking arround between upchuck sessions and found this to be a some what common problem on the 2000 Malibu. The recommended fix was to replace the TPS, and it should work fine. That is fairly easy and due-able. My question is is there a way to disable the cruise control modual by either pulling a fuse or removing a modual it self? Its more for her genral safety until I can get back and get this worked out.
So any one, please help. Im realy concerned for her safety and want to make sure she doesnt wreck her car.
Oh and great site, LOTS of info on here from what I've browsed so far.
