Has anyone ever heard of the steering column in a 2005 Malibu breaking? And what causes something like that to happen on an almost 2 year old vehicle? Dealer costs with no warranty left is $1500.00 Canadian. It just seems really odd.

 

not breaking...but I had some issues with the 'electric' steering box going on mine, GM had a notice about it..basically it would kinda steer on its on, if you turn the wheel the electric assist would take over and steer it more and you had to actually pull the wheel back.....replaced 2 on mine
