Hi, I just bought the 2010 Malibu LS 2.4 Flex fuel. and I found engine oil was OVER Filled by the mechanic. I had to pump out 1.5 liters. and still, it was on Max line. (I guess, the mechanic was confused with V6 engine) and I changed the engine oil with Full synthetic oil again. and I found check engine light was on before. and it shows P0016. so I changed the Camshaft sensor and Crankshaft sensor too. I've tested the Camshaft sensors with power on and generates 5 volts when I put the metal to the sensor and goes down to 0.6 volts or so when I remove the metal from the sensor. But that P0016 code doesn't go away. even after I erased the code by OBD2 code reader. and disconnect the Negative battery connector around 1 hour while I was changing the Crankshaft sensor. but still, code didn't go away. and I did clean the most of Ground wires and apply the dielectric grease too. but still code didn't want to go away. ;(
Now, my symptom of the car problem is;

1. When I start the engine, Engine idle fluctuated approximately 5 seconds or so. then, it stabilizes by itself and has no problem at all. Even passing the other car is not a problem at all. It has all the power I need. But check engine light (P0016) still remains.
2. Once the engine is warmed up, the engine runs very smooth. but if I start the engine again, Engine idle fluctuated approximately 3 seconds or so. then, it stays very nice and gentle idle afterward.
3. I've checked both Solenoid valves and it is very clean too. No particles at all.
4. On idle, I could hear a bit of muffler leaking sounds like from the bottom side of the engine but if I give throtle it goes away.
5. P0016 code keep coming back.

I've checked most of the connectors and applied dielectric grease too. so as to the ground wires to the engine and chassis.
and I've clean the Throttle body too.

What would it be the trouble here?
Would it be ECM (Engine control module) trouble?

Does anyone have similar trouble like this?

the fault is for a camshaft position actuator not the sensor. did you replaced the wrong part?

 

I have a P0016 and OBD2 reader says;

Chevy Malibu P0016: Crank/Cam Position Correlation – Bank 1 Sensor “A”

Tell you the truth, I never tested the Actuator. I think I should test that one today.
P0016 is the only code I have and keep coming back after erase. and I did more research about rough idle at the start. and I think it would be something to do
with "Idle Air control valve". 'cause, as I mentioned at first, too much oil in it. (6 liters instead of 4.7 liters) and the Throttle body was pretty dirty. (Brownish Black)
so I cleaned Throttle body good. but didn't check the idle air control valve. so I'm going to go after that today as soon as I get the chance.
and I will let you know about the Actuator test too.

One more thing to add. around 10 years ago, my son's Cobalt had a Camshaft position solenoid code came up and had to replace. and that was all caused by "Too much engine oil". I taught him how to changing oils and he made a mistake on the oil level. and had that trouble.

Well, I've been hoping Actuator too. but both of them are good. I got 19 ohms on both of them. and very clean inside too. ;(
and I try to check the "Idle air control valve" but it looked different than I found on the internet. there isn't the spring or bolt nothing in it.
it's just "Open hole" (just hollow) on the sensor. I don't know if I found right one or not. but it was right behind of throttle body and on top.
so I think it might be the timing chain.

Please, anyone knows what is going on this car, let me know.
