Default 2016 Chevy Malibu LS shift to park problem

I have a 2016 chevy malibu with a 1.5L motor my problem is when I try to start then dash says shift to park i looked online thought it was the micro switch in the side of the shifter so i bypassed it and it still says shift to park any suggestions on what i should try next

I don't recommend bypassing or shorting the switch. Did you confirm the message goes away when you activate the switch (make sure it is fully depressed) when the gear is in Park? You can also try to bypass it (short across the 2 terminals) only when the gear is in the Park position. I just repaired my switch actuator on my 2016 Malibu. Works fine for now.

It is in the park position ohm switch out and switch is not closing at all I ordered a new switch but it will take 3 weeks to get here

OK, seems like you have a bad switch. Did you just order the switch or full gear assembly? If switch only, what is the part number and where did you purchase it? I may want to have it as a spare.
