Auto stop failure
#1 check for fault codes
#2 check stop start inhibit data...ie inhibit criteria will be a reason for stop/start system to be inoperative
have the battery tested. If it uses 2 batteries...they must be isolated from each other and tested separately. a failing battery or battery with a bad state of health is one of the inhibit criteria.

Thank you...Both of the batteries are brand new. I just replaced them both about 2 months ago. Also just put a brand new alternator in on yesterday. Thought that was part of the problem due to the voltage on my battery was fluctuating from 12.3 to 12.4 then eventually it would jump all the way to 13.9. I also had the transmission flushed and changed the fluids about a week ago and shortly after that the engine light came on and gave the code to replace high pressure fuel pump. At this point I am like completely lost.

Mine also does this exact same thing. Everyone I talk to or explain this too, think I'm crazy. My battery voltage does the same as well. I got 2 new batteries, replaced some fuses, tested alternator. All the above and it's all good to go. Just recently took both batteries back in to test them again to make sure there wasn't any dead cells. I have no idea what to do.
Auto Stop/Start is dependent on good battery health or it will not work. I recently bought my 2015 Malibu and soon afterward a message popped up telling me to have the vehicle serviced. The shop replaced both batteries as a set and reprogrammed the module that monitors battery health. Auto Stop won't always work unless the batteries have had a chance to top-off their charge.
Take your Malibu to a shop that can check and reprogram the battery control module.

I recently bought a 2020 Malibu with 60k miles and 2 months after I bought it the car started stalling at stop signs and red lights. It didn't matter if auto stop was on or off. Took it to a mechanic and he said there were 6 codes and 5 can be corrected with a new battery. The newer features on the car put more drain on the battery. Every time you stop for a red light your car powers down then starts up again so that wears out your battery and starter faster. Chevy has a button now to turn off auto stop which I push every time I get in the car now. It's too expensive to put in a new starter or battery to save 2 gallons of gas per month.
[QUOTE=maybewiser;318911]I was driving my 2014 Malibu with auto stop. The auto stop system has worked satisfactorily many times. Yesterday the auto stop system stopped my engine as I waited at a stop light. But the engine would not restart!

I since took the car in to a Chevy Dealer and the did a reflash of the software, reprogrammed the dcm. I got it back last night and the first red light I came to I stalled, now I put the car in neutral at red lights. It idles at 700-800 rpms when it doesn't stall.
