Auto stop issues
Hi, I have a 2014 chevy malibu with 108,000 Miles. Whenever I go onto auto stop my car will shake or feel like it’s stalling out. One time my car completely shut off and i kept trying to restart it and it wouldn’t but 5 minute later it turned back on. I got my spark plugs, trans flush, idle body cleaned, And a new auto stop battery.
I took my car to chevrolet because my small dealership said chevy would know the fix. My car has been in the shop currently there for 3 weeks and they can’t seem to figure out the issue. the chevy dealership told me my auto start battery died so i took my car back to the small dealership, just to find out they forgot to put the valve or something on so my auto start battery was never dead!!! I’m very irritated and just want my car fixed please give me suggestions to give to these mechanics since they can’t figure out what my cars issue is!

The small battery in the trunk powers everything while auto stop is active. The main battery under the hood is reserved for starting the engine. The best recommendation I've seen is to treat them as a "set". That means replace them both if one fails. That's what the shop Carvana sent me to a month after I bought my 2015 Malibu. That was 2-1/2 years ago and I haven't had any issues since. Everything has to be right for auto stop/start to work. The heater/air conditioner on high will prevent auto stop from kicking in. A battery that isn't completely charged will prevent auto stop from kicking in. There are several other conditions that can prevent it from working. The main thing is the condition of the batteries.
