Default Cruise Control Issues

Evening

I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu and I've noticed that the cruise control seems to work when it feels like it. Anybody experience the same?

Thanks

It may be an issue with the body control module (BCM). You may want to take the vehicle in to be inspected by a certified technician for a more accurate diagnosis.

Any reason this would just start happening recently? It worked fine for the last 2.5 years

The brake lights are on without the foot on the brake pedal, maybe? Do a web search for TSB #08-05-22-009 (currently up to revision #08-05-22-009C). Some shops will start with replacing the brake pedal position sensor and generally flop around which is patently the wrong way to go.
