Default E85 in a non-flex engine

I have a 2011 Malibu. Its gas cap stated E85/Regular and was colored yellow. I decided to try E85, within 4 miles the CEL illuminated. I called the dealer and the service manager said that it would take 7 miles to recalibrate and to continue driving. I made a service appointment the next day. The service manager said that this model did not use E85.

They changed the gas cap and said to drive the car until there was 1/4 tank left and then fill with regular.

My question is how much damage if any will there be?

karity, could you direct message me your VIN so I can check to make sure what engine your vehicle has? Thank you.
