Default Gauge cluster issue 2000 Malibu

First off I have a 2000 Malibu with a non-functioning fuel gauge and temp. gauge. None of the warnign lights work either when the key is turned on except the engine light. It starts and runs fine (no passlock issues), I have changed the cluster with 2 seperate known good clusters and they act the same way and have plugged my cluster into a differet Malibu and it worked perfectly fine in it. I have also done the same with the body control module (same thing, 2 different good BCMs and plugged mine into a different car). Anybody have any ideas? I just bought this car and of all its issues this is the one that truely bothers me to the point of selling it already, which I couldn't do anyway without working gauges.

The only thing I can think to suggest to you is to check your speed censor. I remember my Malibu's speedometer along with the odometer quit working altogether after sitting idle for two, three months. I'm not sure it'll have anything to do with your problem, but if your serious enough it is worth a check.

Your speed censor will be located on the left side of the transmission. You may notice some cut wires or just weird looking clusters altogether. Maybe not though. Maybe the internals of this chip are bad. And if that is the case, you'll just have to replace it altogether. It'll cost around $90. Not too bad. The actual installation is **** easy.

Start by checking your fuses. There are 2 in the instrument panel fuse box for the cluster. The next part is going to involve metering wires using a DVOM. Check for resistance to ground while the key is on at pins A4 and B10, both are blk\wht. You should have a reading of less than about 5ohms. Turn the key off, and unplug the cluster, and the BCM. Check for continuity between these wires:

Cluster ...................Colour...........BCM
Pin A2 ................LtBlue\Blk......Connector C2 Pin B7
Pin A9 ..................Yellow .........Connector C3 Pin A3
Pin A 10.............. pink\blk....... Connector C3 Pin A7
