HELP!!! 2012 Malibu rough idle/stall/service esc
Okay let me start by saying ive had this issue for about 5 months now and ive been chasing it ever since. It will sometimes run great, sometimes like ****/funky transmission shifts and sometimes in between. Occassionally when it acts up and dies all the service lights will come on, other times it just dies without the warnings. After everytime it dies, when trying to restart it will die immediately after a second or two.. It will always restart if i unplug the intake camshaft position sensor. That lead me to believe the sensor was bad, so i replaced it, issue persisted. Decided to replace the exhaust side camshaft position sensor, issue persisted.. After that i replaced the battery, map sensor and complete throttle body. Still having the issue.. Ive already taken care of the fretting corrosion fix. Anybody have any insight? What else could it be that is fixed or bypassed by unplugging the camshaft position sensor and allows it to start and run after it dies besides the sensor itself? Are there other things connected to the cps wires? I havent noticed any chafed or exposed wiring... HELP!!!
ps. only codes ive code were p0340 and a map sensor code but that hasnt come back since i replaced it. the other only comes back on occasion.

Sorry to Necro an old thread, but I had a few of your symptoms rough idle, stalling, service esc.
Everything was solved by replacing one of the car's ignition coils, and using dielectric grease when installing the new one and on reseating the existing ones. Was a relatively simple fix and it stopped all of the issues I was having.
May be irrelevant to you but just maybe it'll be a lead.
