Maliboo Performance...
So I have an 06 Maliboo Maxx LT...
Personally I think this is the worst handling car Ive ever driven.
God forbid you dont slow down enough for some corners cause it will not turn...
It does better with the TCS Off.
Questions:
1. Anyone know if there are better swaybars?
2. Are there strut bars?
3. Performance Springs?
4. Anyway to make it so the TCS defaults to off?
5. Anyone have any problems with bumper cover paint coming off?
Ive had it for roughly 18 months and I wish I could sell it now... unfortunately Chevys "Like a Rock" slogan seems to only apply to the resale Value... (as in drops ...)
Just trying to make this car enjoyable enough until I sell it...

O and a couple more...
How come the Trip Computer lies to me about my MPG?
I take several trips that are over 600 miles roundtrip
The Maliboo will tell me I'm getting 29.6-31.8 MPG...but when I do the math after doing the 2 fillups I'm getting roughly 23-25MPG...
Can you disable the auto-lock feature?
And where can I find a complete service manual I need to pull both front and back bumper covers off to get them repainted

LOL, man, you haveto be THE first person to NOT like their MAXX....
SWAP the tires and rims for some bigger ones, that will get you handling and cornering down, for questions 1 and 2, I dont think so.
Question 3, Eibach did for the SS, not sure on the LT and things...
Question 4..No its there for a reason, safety, push the button.
Question 5.. Did you buy it used, or new, if used, odds are the bumpers have been painted before and that is the paint problem now. if not, stop tailgating.??
for hte MPG, maybe your math is wrong, computers dont tend to lie. do you reset it EVERY time you leave for your trip?if not it will be off as well.
auto lock feature? you mean when you put it in drive and it locks, if so yes in the DIC (driver info center, the 2 bottom buttons, looks like a menu button and a checkmark, go thru those.
for resale, I guess by the sounds of it if you do 600 miles round trip lots and you had it 18 months the milage is getting up there, and if a new one can be had for 18 grand, what do you figure your SHOULD be worth. take milage and your banged bumpers into consideration when factoring it, what would you pay for it as you look at in the drive in the shape its in NOW..
wether you fix the bumprs and everything else, like brakes nd the like, the dealer who takes it in does, so its money out of his pcoket. You wont get top dollar for it unless it shows it worth top dollar.

The paint on the bumpers were fine for about 6 months then it just started happening...

I'll admit that i did back into something and made it worse on the back, but on the front has never been hit while I've had it...
I got it with 18000 miles and now have over 60000...trade in value on the car is 6500. I think I could private party it for like 10000, but that wouldn't pay off the loan...
I've got good tires on stock rims, is the suspension on the SS the same as the LT?
any links to a service manual...

both those marks are from someone hitting you or you hitting someone, so dont blame the paint there.
No the susp is completely different n the 2 cars, HOWEVER, some aftermarket 17-18" rim and a wider then stock tire and lower profile tire, (thin sidewalls on the tire)will cure you cornering issues for the most part. Most of your body roll on corners is cause hte sidewall on your tire is colapsing, a low profile tire will not do this as bad, and a wider one will hold the road better.
I did this to correct the bad handling of my old Grand am, along with some springs, I did mostly highway back then about 400km round trip a day, so nicer cornering and handling were my concern. The 3.5 in the MAxx I wold think you find snappy enough, it is almost as snappy as my 3.9, just mine has massive bottom end torque, does smokes shoes for a joke, but hard on the Potenzas.
Remember your driving a BIG car, not sport cobalt or civic. Its not supposed to be rough and corner like mad, if people want that then opt for the SS model or something sportier.
As it was this time as well, I needed something big, got 2 kids, looks good, I love the look of the Maxx, and Subaru was a close second, but I work for GM, I tired the LT, and LTZ, but when the SS came in, I had it in my name before it was off the truck.
Ths susp is different, it has the 3.9L V6, big wheels and tires, and a TV for the kids..Anyhow my point is, live and learn next time if performance is waht your after BUT still need a good size car, look around, read a bit, someone offers it wether its GM or whoever..

I concur. That is impact damage for sure. Something has cause MAJOR flex in that panel to cause that cracking.Your car isn't going to handle like a sports car. It just will not. You are driving a large family car. Its not built to take corners, its built to take kids and groceries.
