When I take my foot off the brake and BEFORE I put it on the accelerator, there is a loud clunking noise in the rear of the car....it doesn't happen all the time but about once every couple of days. Also the brakes in the rear will make a squealing noise sometimes when I apply the brakes, but this is very intermittent as well. Any ideas before I take it to a shop??
Thanks

It's been some time since your post. Did you get your problem solved? If so, what was the problem?
I was thinking that some brake parts for the linkage connecting the parking brake came apart or broke. These parts are within the brake drum, backing plate, and the brake shoes, assuming you have rear drum brakes. I have a 2001 Malibu. I haven't had that problem. Just thinking out loud.
