Default Malibu MAXX 2005 Remote starter stopped working

A week ago It works, no no. Remote works ok, I can lock/open car/trunk but when I hit Remote Start it just blinks once and does nothing.

What may be an issue?

Might need a scan with a Tech 2, but the most common problem is the hood switch. No, can not be bypass, it sends a signal to the PCM.

Default similar problem

My wife's 04 maxx is doing the same thing with the alarm going off randomly. I just found the hood switch wires pinched between two plastic panels near the connector to the right of the latch. Could a faulty switch or a broken wire cause false alarm triggers. This happen once before and the dealer blamed it on a bad BCM and interior lock switch on passenger door.

If the bcm saw the hood open due to the pinched wires, then yes, That could be the cause of the alarm going off

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a quick test or bypass of the switch a shade tree mechanic like myself could do to before I order a latch/switch assembly from the dealer. The switch is not a servicable item, gotta buy the latch also at $100.00
