Radio swap
I have a2000 malibu and thinking of swaping the tape player system with a cd player. My question is can I installan original GM delco cd player that comes oncertain model malibus with same yearwithout any modifications or is it better to install an aftermarket cd system? Which is easier and money saving? Anysuggestions?
And also how do I takeout the door panels? The speaker have gone bad and thinking of replacing them too.
Thank you.

i'd suggest yo get a nice aftermarket radio..will get you better sound, and it will be cheaper. I belive most GM radios are set for one vin # so if you want it to work on a different car you are going to have to have the dealer unlock it.
On removing the door panel..i've never worked on a malibu but look around for hiden screws..usually theres 3-4 screws and then a bunch of plastic clip that should pop right off w/ alittle bit of force

My 98 also had the cassette, I got a CD factory GM radio from a 2002 S10 that fit perfect, and was a direct plug in. Look on ebay, mine was $45, and I then sold the old one for $35 on ebay.
