Default Recall for burnt pistons 2013 Turbo LTZ

Yesterday had two recalls performed: reprogram the sunroof switches, and check for burned pistons.

I don't know what effect the reprogramming of the sunroof had.

The spark plugs were pulled and replaced with new ones. Shop said I had no damage, but the engine was reprogrammed to some new specs.

The car seems to me like it's accelerating quicker, from a standing start. Changed the timing, perhaps?

Why wouldn't knock sensors have prevented burnt pistons?

how would they inspect pistons without removing the head?

they are only installing a colder plug and updating the spark control programming to match the colder plug.
the concern is possible misfire and pre-ignition.

They could bore scope them through the spark plug hole, as I would think the primary damage would be occurring on the face of the piston...
