Default Replacing the intake gaskets on 01 malibu

Ok, so I realize that it's kind of lame when random people come and post complicated questions... but I gotta start somewhere right? Anyways the freaking intake and plenum gaskets on my malibu are starting to go bad (of course), and I was thinking about replacing them myself... except I have some decent experience repairing stuff, but I've never seriously worked on a car before. Is this a good idea for me to be doing myself (I have some more qualified friends to help me, but who knows how dependable they'll be)? And do I need anything special tool-wise to do the job?

I figure a bunch of you all must have done this already : ) so maybe someone could help me out with my shopping list... Thanks a bunch.
