The CD payer in my '05 Maxx just keeps spitting out CD's and won't paly them. I've located another one like it at a junkyard but will I be able to just plug it in and go?

 

You'll have to bring it to a dealership after to have it activated for your car. Make sure you bring your receipt from the junk yard to prove you actually bought the stereo.

Cost will vary from dealer to dealer. Some charge a minimum of 1 hour labor (usually anywhere from $69-$99) some just charge you $20 like my local dealer for simple stuff like that.

Not sure exactly. I know the radio is somehow coded to the car (probably the RCU) so that someone can't just steal the radio and put it in their car. I had to have my radio replaced when I bought my car because there was a CD stuck in the original one. The dealer that I bought it from (Honda dealer) said they had to bring the car to the local Chevy dealer to have the radio programmed. I can't imagine this costing any more than $20 because it literally takes 5 minutes, but most dealers will charge for a whole hour of work.
