What am I missing in this specific spot ? 2015 Malibu

Nothing at all. I just went outside and looked at my own 2015 Chevy Malibu 2.5 liter, and it looks exactly like your picture does.
Damned if I know what might be installed there, but whatever it is, I guess we are both missing whatever it might be LOL
BTW how do you like your 2015 Chevy Malibu? I love mine, The only complaint I can make is the steering column was made
for people smaller than me, as it is always all the way up. If I need more room I slide the seat back, but I am still shocked and amazed at the fuel mileage that it gets in normal driving, so the steering wheel isn't an issue for me. I love my Chevy Malibu!
