Default ‘98 Chevy Lumina not starting

I recently received a ‘98 Chevy Lumina as a gift and I knew that some work would have to be done to it. We bought a new battery and a new starter for it, but after installation the car still wouldn’t start. The security light turned on and we tried to bypass that system. It still didn’t start. We even tried to switch the fuses for the starter relay and the starter. If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Revist the security issue. Is it a pellet key?

Almost every time these cars have a no start and the security link blinking is because the two white wires that connect to the back of the key switch break off and the vats module doesn't see the resistor on the key. Pull the cover on the steering wheel and that's where I would start.
