01 Monte Carlo Oil Issue/Starter
The other day at work one of the mechanics went to go do an oil change on my Monte Carlo. When he put the car up on the lift he noticed that underneath the engine was covered in oil. I don't think I'm leaking oil due to the fact that where I usually park my car, there isn't any puddles or signs of a leak. I don't know how long this has been going on due to the fact that it was never brought up to me and I'm not the original owner. Anyway, my starter was replaced back in October. Recently, when I go to start the car it acts as if it doesn't want to start and then the car finally starts. Could the fact that my engine underneath is covered in oil have anything to do with the car hesitating when I start it? When I originally had the starter replaced, the car had about 145k miles on it so I don't know if the starter needed to be replaced because of the mileage or because of the oil. The mechanic who originally worked on the car has been fired due to the fact he turned out to be incompetent and almost destroyed an engine on a 2011 Lexus SUV but that's besides the point. When he replaced my starter he said that the reason it had to be replaced was because of oil getting into it. I don't know if I believe him because he also told me my car needed a new wheel bearing & tie rod end when in reality all I needed was new front rotors.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
