Default 01 turn signal issues

i have a 2001 monte carlo ss sometime when you go to use the turn signals they quit working. I found that if you hit the four was switch on the dash and let them flash then the turn signals will start working again. Is this a flasher issue or is it the turn signal switch or the wiring.

Did you try changing out the flasher? They are the cheapest.
