Just got a 97 lumina. $100 with new tires. No key. And it needs a new column.....

So to fix both issues can I get a junk yard column with key and the tdm from the same car?

Or better yet just remove vats or disable it?

 

Good luck with VATs removal. You can replace the column, and relearn the BCM with whatever key you want.

 

This what I would do, replace the column, and ignition switch. The new switch should come with a key without the pellet. Have a key made that is cut for the switch with a pellet key, and relearn the BCM, SHOULD be as easy as with key switch on, no crank for 20 minutes, then without tyurning ignition off, just go to start.

 

Not sure when you swap the column but I did this to my 99 lumina over the weekend.
