I have a 1999 Monte Carlo 3.1 v6, 123,000 miles, and it keeps overheating on me. I've recently replaced the thermostat, and today, replaced the leaky water pump. I refilled the radiator with coolant (and the reservoir is full too...), started the car, and after about 10 minutes, it started to overheat yet again. When you squeeze the hose that the thermostat is in, it does squish, so that means the thermostat is opening up. The radiator fans run too.

I'm kind of out of ideas. Could it mean that there is air in the system? How do you bleed it out?

I had that hppen on a '98. You may need to have cooling system "Power Flushed" as
Dexcool tends to coagulate & clog when it gets old...

could be air in the system... there should be a bleeder next time i'm on mcf ill check around and get back to ya

 

fill the coolant then leave the rad cap off and run the car for a bit...if there is an airlock it will come out with the cap off.
