Default 96 Lumi windshield wipers are sporatic.

I have a 1996 Lumina 4Door base sedan. The windshield wipers are operating sporadically. When you first cut them on, they don't operate. Then when you select several diff. settings they finally start operating. It can't be a blown fuse. I wouldn't think it is the motor itself. What could be causing this? What switch would cause this problem? How do you solve it?

It's mechanical. I have the same issue especially with washer setting. I have to throw them on high to get them to start.

RE: go to high setting......I think that is what I have to do to 'jump start' my wipers. What does 'mechanical' mean? How do i fix it? Is the linkage binding?

It's just the mechanics of the mechanism in my opinion.

Yes, I know that's when they are supposed to work. That's why I was so surprised and shocked. They never did that before!
