Default Electrical Mystery

I have a 2007 Monte Carlo that is driving me insane. I've replaced the battery cables, the battery, and the alternator, and it still says "check battery charging system" and only drives about a block before dying.

The guy who towed it said it could be a bad ground, but every place he named as a possible location for a ground (alternator to bracket, engine to subframe) is not a place where a gap could magically appear.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

You really need a voltmeter for this. Actually check with engine running if the alternator is putting out over static (before starting) battery voltage. If you are in doubt of a ground or lack off, you can add an additional ground cable from the battery to the block, or frame.
