Hi. im new to this forum but i think you guys know more about chevy then a v8buickcom. i just purchesed a 1979 rear wheel drive suburban with an old 454 eng to be restored and used for other car. i might have some pic's later on, what engine will fit the best? other than the 454 chevy ? i want to replce it with a smaller engine.
the big block 454 is longer so the frame mounts are way out to the front and it, has a 400th trans. so i dont know what to replace it with, the easest and efficient maybe 350 or 305. or disel?

I drove a 454 burban back in college and remember getting about 7 miles to the gallon, so I dont blame you wanting to downsize. Good Luck
