Default 99 lumina volt light

Hi my name is ian and i own 99 lumina with 60k miles. June this year i had a new battery installed and a rebuilt starter installed. recently the volt light started coming on. i replaced the tension-er and had the battery tested. volt light will go off when i raise the rpm but between 1500 and 2 k it comes on. any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like alternator is going out. Have you checked the voltage at idle?

not yet, had the battery tested with engine off. good. the altenator was rebuilt 4 months ago as the factory unit was built with the wrong size insulator that was forced in and ruined it. grr now the break light is on again 4 times since i got it at 25k miles.i think i have a lemon, thrown together with the leftover parts.
