Hi Gang !

I've just commited the cardinal sin and requested help in my first post. I've spent a few hours searching the web for information about the 4L60E gearbox and that's brought me here.

I'm an Englishman living in Germany and have 3 young children. I've owned Firebirds, Camaros and all sorts of fun play cars for the past few years but this year I had to get a proper family car due to the addition of No.3 son.

I opted for a 1996 Chevy Astro and I absolutely love it. Nice and comfy for all of us and with a DVD and TV inside what more could the children want on a 10 hour drive to Slovakia or the UK.

Here are a couple of photos. We love pictures don't we:

Cheers

Tony

Welcome Tony. Nice pics of the Yank Tank too. Does anyone over there make a similar configuration type vehicle that compares to your Astro? Bet not (at least not in a common persons budget). Anyhow, nice ride and enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the Chevrolet Forum!
I'm impressed with the custom lighting on it. I didn't think it would look good on an Astro, but your Astro wears it well.

Thanks chaps. The custom lighting wasn't done by myself. It cost a few hundred quid which I personally wouldn't have spent. I think the original lights look just as good (well, the front ones anyway).

A comparison vehicle ? Tough one. There's nothing as luxurious as the Astro/Safari for less than £4000 over here that's for sure. Mercedes do a nice MPV or SUV you might call it but you'd pay 5 times as much for a comparable vehicle. Renault make an Espace but they make it out of chocolate. It's a nice car while it's new and works but after 6 months, as with most French motors, the engines melt or the electrics fail.

For my money you can't beat a big old Yank for comfort and driveability.

Thats right. You can't. If there is one thing for sure, an American vehicle will be comfy and spacious as compared to cars over there. We do things big in the USA
