Hello from Connecticut!
Hi, I'm Tommy, I'm 20 and my daily driver is a 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34. I inherited the car from my mother when she passed in 2008. My family has always been big on GM, specifically Chevrolet, so I was overjoyed that I got the car over my 3 siblings. That car really is my only bright spot in that whole ordeal. I grew up in that car, was driven to school in it, went to doctors appointments with it. We did everything in that car when I was growing up. Why? well, our other vehicle most of the time I was growing up was a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0L V6 4x4 5 speed manual pick up truck with the extended cab. The Z34 was also the last car my sister willingly drove before she passed on June 19, 2010.
My mother bought the Chevy back in 1999 when my older brother and his wife (at the time) totaled her 1994 Ford Escort LX station wagon. My mom picked up a "Bright White" 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 for around $22,000. it had only 12,000 miles on it and had apparently been special ordered by a Monte Carlo enthusiast in 1994. The car had body color bright white painted 16 inch aluminum rims, and a dealer installed car-phone. Yes, it still has the phone to this day. She bought the car not knowing the known LQ1 3.4L engine troubles because she had had 2 previous Monte Carlos, a 1977 and a 1978 model and considered them excellent cars. She also liked the bland styling in that she wanted something that didn't scream "LOOK AT ME!". About a week later, she went to the local college she was taking classes at and showed her friend the car. Her friend dropped her jaw which left my mom confused. My mom's friend then explained it was supposedly "one of the hottest cars on the market with a certified racing pedigree". I wouldn't go that far to describe it, but it was definitely different. The car now has 121,780 miles on the odometer and no major mechanical problems.... though a few nit-picky electrical ones.
My current girlfriend understands why I'm so attached to the car and has accepted that the car always comes first as she's somewhat the same way with her Oldsmobile. My girlfriend has 2 cars, both GM products. Her first is a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL, her first car ever. About 2 weeks after she bought it the 3800 V6 engine blew chunks for no apparent reason. Even the mechanics were baffled. To let you know how bad of a blow it was, the car shot one of the connecting rods through the oil pan while another shattered inside the engine. She refuses to get rid of the Olds and has her sights set on an L67 3800 supercharged v6 swap. Her second car is what she bought recently as a daily driver due to her Oldsmobile crisis. A 2006 Chevrolet Aveo LT 5 door hatchback.

lol! That's awesome! I've had b/fs ask me if I love them or my monte more & I'm like umm do you really wanna know the answer to that
btw welcome to the forum! Looks like a real nice monte!
Welcome Z34. I was looking at a new Monte recently and my daughter (30 years old) said I was experiencing a "mid-life" crisis. I told her that she was wrong and that 60 was way past mid-life. BTW, my attorney has a new Vette, now that's what I call a crisis and of course I'm jealous. Enjoy the forum and get your girlfriend to join too.
