Default Hello from Wyoming

New to the forum, but not new to cars/trucks and Chevy. At 60 years old I've owned quite a few.
Recently inherited a 2007 Silverado 1500 2WD extended cab.from my father in law. He bought it new in 2007, but shortly after had a stroke. He survived the stroke and was with us for quite a few more years. When I inherited the truck, it was 15 years old (2022) and only had 17,500 miles on it. Of course over that time it needed a new set of tires (2021) because they dry rotted in the New Mexico heat/sun. He did drive it about 1,000 miles a year, just to go grocery shopping and such. I've had it now a couple of months and have gone over it with a fine tooth comb. (I also maintained it for him when we'd go down to visit). Fluid changes, checked all electrical, did a beef up to the main ground wires to the frame, engine, and body to ensure good electrical system.

Anyway, looking to have some good times with the truck. Especially when my son and his family come to visit. Normally we always had to take 2 cars to go on any excursions. The silverado seats 6 so that will be nice. Been a member of many car forums for years, but haven't had a chevy for a while so didn't spend much time on the chevy/gm forums. Looking forward to learning and sharing a lot. The forums and youtube are such a great source of information. Many times, much better than even a dealership when you have problems. Can't tell you how many times I've seen mechanics, including the dealership make customers THROW MONEY at a problem replacing everything they can think of; of sometimes still not getting the problem fixed. These forums and youtube are places where you can get REAL FIRST HAND experience with problems and solutions. Obviously there will be those who will instinctively take their vehicle to a mechanic or dealership. Those people are usually those who can't even spell CAR and probably aren't on the forums anyway. So no chance of offending them. I've pretty much repaired all my own vehicles for the last 45 years. Camaro, Corvette, S10, Ford's, Toyota/Lexus, Citroen, Fiat, Porsche, skoda, and a few others. Spent 20+ years in the air force, so I've lived all over the world. Had to learn a lot about being self sufficient. Especially with cars. But being a "Tech-Head" myself, even before Al Gore even invented the internet, I've been fortunate to be able to understand and use technology. It was sort of my job for 45 years.

Thanks again for the welcome area. Already posted a couple of questions and replies to other posts. Have a great day.
Mike
