I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado 4x4, 5.3 liter engine. I have an intermittent problem when putting my truck into reverse. Here is the problem, when putting my truck into reverse it will lock up and stop, and make a loud noise. It stops and sounds and feels like I rear ended something. I have to put my truck in park, then into reverse in order for it to back up. My truck has 127K miles on it and there are no transmission or other leaks underneath. There is no check engine light that comes on. This is an intermittent problem. Any suggestions from anyone?

Default Reverse noise

Hi and welcome to the forum. Before I go any further, you should post this in a proper forum for this problem. That said, here are some of the possibilities:
a bad u-joint.
a bad rear end.
Broken transmission parking pawl spring
transmission shift linkage adjustment
A loose brake shoe ( broken spring, seized brake cylinder).
That’s about all I can think of right now.
