out of whack tach

Default out of whack tach

my 91,305 rs tach reads 1200 at idle. at 60 mph, it reads 3200 rpm. what gives? i cant figure out whats wrong. can anyone help?

according to my limited knowledge, those tach readings are about double of what they should be.

it has been this way for quite some time but i never thought about it much until i saw the tach redline when shifting at normal driving speeds.

what is the redline speed? the only thing i can think, find a cheap tach, and hook it up under the hood, and see what it registers?
