Default P.O.S. Truck

Lifelong GM owner. I still own a 2002 2500 Silverado HD, and sadly I just traded in my 2005 GMC sierra 2500 HD. I thought that my GMC was a little bit more truck than I needed these days so I purchased a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. This new Silverado is the biggest p.o.s. I have ever owned. Everything is buttons now, half the time they only work with the second or third push like starting it or having to remove the parking brake with its button, or the dreaded auto stop feature button.

I don’t know why these buttons don’t respond like they should. It’s not like I have dainty ladies hands or anything. In the parking brake, I have no idea why that it does not automatically turn off when you shift into gear like the old GM vehicles used to. However it will turn off if you stomp on the gas by itself. Go figure.

The headrest come out at a forward angle from the seat so wearing any kind of brimmed hat is an impossibility, the headrests also will not come out, they will only pull up to a certain point and lock so even removing it to be able to wear a hat is impossible so running between areas, for someone who needs to wear a hat for skin issues such as myself has to constantly take it on and off which doesn’t sound like much but it is still quite a pain. Never had this issue with my 2002 or 2005.

don’t even get me started on that onboard computer system computer screen. With all of the disclaimers every time I started that I have to go through and keep hitting deny or allow and dismiss every time I start it I have to go through between four and five denials and dismissals before the main screen will come up. Half of the time the audio does not work whether it be for my phone or the radio. I’ve tried to address this issue several times with Chevy and online help, but to no avail. The only thing that I found that works is going into the system and rebooting the whole thing in safe mode and then lo and behold for some reason the thing starts working again. But then as soon as I shut it off it resets out of safe mode and then it is a roll of the dice about a 50-50 chance whether the audio system will even work or not.

The keyless entry is rather interesting. Both the driver and passenger side doors have a little silver button to press to unlock. The driver door seems to work fine, but for some reason the passenger side works about 50% of the time, sometimes it will unlock the driver side door, sometimes it won’t do anything, I miss having a regular key to be able to open and start my vehicle with. It seems that smart keys are not all that smart.

A few times I have been frustrated from the day and in and the stuff has happened where I have gotten a work call, I miss having a regular key to be able to open and start my vehicle with. It seems that smart keys are not all that smart.

A few times I have been frustrated from the day and in a hurry to get to the next job and the stuff has happened where I have gotten a work call and the audio won’t work so my client can’t hear me so I have to pull over turn off the truck get out and walk around outside to speak to my customer. Those times if I had had a gun on me I would have shot the damn truck like a crippled horse. I really miss the way that GM quality used to be. And they also miss more of the basic Technology in the vehicles. Unfortunately it seems like the more basic set ups are only available in the three-quarter ton. If they exist in the half ton Silverado, I haven’t seen one at any dealership by me before I purchased this one.

Welcome to the forum. Not much you can do about those issues on the forum but I would suggest that you take it back to the dealer to fix the things that are not working right.
