sbc cam too small?
Hi i am new here, and i recently rebuilt a 350 for my 78 k20 pickup. This is the first motor i have built by myself, and i am just looking for some input about possibly my cam being too small, or not quite being right with timing.
sbc 350, .030 over, aluminum 64 cc heads with 2.02/1.60 valves, 1.5 steel rockers, comp cams push rods, lunati barebones hydraulic cam 214 int./224 exh, 0.443 int./0.465 exh. Flat top pistons +5.00cc head volume i think. Eagle Crank, standard stroke. Hedman long tube headers, Street demon 625 carb, edelbrock performer rpm intake. I have the total timing set to 36 at 3000 rpms, initial is somewhere around 16 i believe. I just ordered a digital timing light with advance, so i will have a better idea once i hook that up. As i said this is the first motor i have built by myself, so any and all ideas, or recommendations are welcome. The truck is running great, starts real easy, but it seems like it is missing some power at wide open throttle. It doesn't miss, just seems like something isn't quite right. I followed proper break in procedures to my best ability. I just thought i would have a little more power than i am making. The truck does have a 6" lift on 35's, but it doesn't seem like it has much more than the tired stock 350 that was in it previously. Just wondering where i should start, and what i should look for. Also if anyone knows what type of power this should be building hp, and torque wise that would be cool.
Thanks in advance
