Iam a real muscle car fan. My dad owned a 1970 chevelle with a 454.
My teacher at school has asked us to find a forum site to aske questions about cars that we like.

Here is my question was there hydraulic lifters in this engine and why did it always make noise?

Thanks Zach

I'm a real muscle car fan, myself. I own a 1981 350 Z28 and my uncle owns a 69 Chevelle SS 396.

There were hydraulic lifters in these engines and all lifters typically make noise. Some engines you here it more than others. I believe the 454s had a slightly different lifter designs than most other big blocks and they just happened to transmit noise better.

Welcome to the forum zachcornwell
I had a 1973 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 455, it had hydraulic lifters, they were flat on the bottom and not the roller type of todays lifters...
