Question 1950 Coupe

Dear Experts,

my 1950 Coupe is some pipe for fresh air missing.
Standing in front of the car on the right side there is one pipe. On the left side there is a also a hole of app. 12 cm. I think that is the hole where the warm air from the heater comes in. The whole heating has been removed. This opening has been covered with a plate and sealed with duct tape.

Driving with 50 miles the carbon monoxide comes into the passenger cabin. CO is not smellable but after a while you get some scatching in you throat and sooner or late you start coughing.
A 70 year old car is not dense as a new car, sure. But what can i do?
Is there another Coupe or Sedan-Driver who can help with a foto of the engine bay?

Thank you very much for any tip,
Pit

Take a picture. The heater should have been either electric, or water/heater core, probably the later.

Right side, installed pipe for fresh air

entry for fresh air

existing pipe

covered hole on left side; the hole in form of a rectangle is closed from inside the cabin, i hope to lead the hot/cold water into the new heater, which is installed inside.

I'd use a can of foam to seal off the hole once you've installed the heater, just a suggestion..
