Default 1951 1951 Chevy Styleline... Is there supposed to be wood?

I just bough a 1951 Styleline that's been sitting in a barn for close to 2 years. I'm at leas thte third owner, but probably the fourth or fifth.

The guy I bought the car from was clueless about anything auto related, and seriously messed up the 12V conversion.

But my question is this: Is there supposed to be wood on this car, or did the guy just throw it in?

There's sheets of plywood under the front seats, as well as the pedals.

There's also 2X4's running along the bottom of the car, right below the doors, holding up the Chrome that runs along the bottom of the car.

Is this wood supposed to be here? Is that how they came from the factory? Please help! I'd like to know soon so I can decide what part of the car to dig into first.

I'll attach a picture of the car. The chrome running along the bottom, under the doors, is held up by 2X4's. On both sides.

Thanks!

~Mark
