I have a 1992 Chevy 1/2 Ton, 350 5.7ltr, Ext. Cab. Ok here's what happened, I was driving and the motor started to get hot, it got to about 220-230 before I could pull over safely. So now I have a noise and I do not know if it's related or not? When the truck is in park and running it runs great no noises but in drive going down the road I can hear a ticking noise. So I started it up in my driveway and no noise so then I held the brakes on and put it in gear and the noise started It only does it in gear under a load or when I accelerate. I'm confused and any help would be appreciated.

 

is it a high pitched "tick" or a "knock"? make sure your oil's at a good level, maybe throw some good synthetic in there and change it. those ol 350's have been known to have a little tick.
