New to forum...have been reading thru some similar but maybe not exact problems as my ole 92 chevy pickup is having...

It is a 1992 chevy 4.3L, automatic with O/D, 2wd has 370,000 miles on original motor transmission...everything except alternator. check engine light comes on not got the paper clip out to see the problem...wish these could use a scanner.

Problem...

when put into Drive sorta grabs a little hard, stays in 2nd I would say gets up to around 35 mph before over reving...when it warms to the 1st mark on temp guage (where it usually runs at) it will go to changing smooth up and down like it only had 270,000 miles on it.

Also when driving and allowed to cool a bit doesn't take the length of warming like it did at first start after overnite parking.

trans. fluid is full.

Any ideas would be appreciated????

 

How's fluid color and odor?

 

The fluid does need changing darker color and maybe a little burnt smell.
