Hey all,

I usually find my answers after a quick google search, my Chilton book, or hours of frustration -- but this time I need your help!

My Chevy was stolen a few months ago and has had replacement after replacement ever since. I feel like I am down to the last old part, the alternator. My battery dies ALL the time so I put a multimeter on and noticed voltage drop after starting it, the symptom of alternator trouble.

Steps taken:
1. New/refurbished alternator from Autozone
2. New wire going DIRECTLY to the battery for troubleshooting

Is the battery dying while, or after you stop your truck. Also how long does it take to die? Ive had issues similar to this in my 90 k1500. Id park at a friends house and by the time I was ready to leave (2-3 hours) My battery would be drained so bad I had to use my high voltage jumpbox.

unhook both connections at the alternator...with the key in run, engine off....do you have battery voltage at the brown and red wires?
