93 C1500 5.7 Starts & Died
Engine runs good until warmed up. Then stutters and dies. Kinda like it jumped timing. Pulled timing chain cover off to check camshaft timing & it's correct. Going to check distributor timing tomorrow. Is the coil getting hot and misfiring ? I've thrown some sensors at it to no avail. Thx for any clues. No codes...
I parked this truck over a year ago. I think I replaced the ICM last year and that didn't help... I had to jump "something" to restart the engine after it died. I'm 67 & beginning to suffer with CRS.... Can't Remember "stuff"... I gave the truck to my son and thought he may have been a bit too enthusiastic with the loud pedal. Decades ago, timing chains would stretch and jump a tooth with badly worn gears. 225k miles on the engine. Back in the day 100k was historic 🤣
I'll have to get back into the "digital groove" and put it back together. One note. The timing Mark's on this 5.7 are both at 12 o'clock unlike the typical 12 on crank & 6 on camshaft gears... That's a new one on me.
I've had to order a new timing chain cover. It should be here for this weekend when it'll warm up to a balmy 30°. The is truck is in unheated storage up here in the frozen tundra. Thx for the help. I'll post updates next week.
