Default Corsica brakes

Hello people.

My girlfriend has a 1994 Corsica.

She has told me (I haven't driven it to find out yet, raining today) that the brakes, seems like the left side, are squeaking all the time. She says also that when she turns to the left that they seem to sqeak alot louder.

You guys think that this is just the warning sqeaks for new pads, or could this be something else?

Just looking for some input before it stops raining so I will have an idea of what to look for.

Thanks

-Nathan.

That isn't your brakes, thats your power steering pump belt squeeking. If you want to fix that your self, pop the hood, locate the power steering pump. Get some power steering fluid, take off the cap, have your girlfriend turn the steering wheel all the way to the one side and then all the way to the other side. you should see bubbles come up from the fluid, then fill it up accordingly

Thanks alot, TransAm. I'll try that.

What about the squeaking while driving and not turning?

Thanks for your time and attention.

-Nathan.

edit: Rain has subsided, I went out and looked into her power steering reservoir, it seems that it is a little bit low. I'm not familiar with Chevrolet vehicles, is there a certain type of PS fluid that you have to use? I was attempting to download the owner's manual from Chevrolet, but they didn't have an option in their drop-down menu for the Corsica.

Thank you for all of your help.

Do you a serpentine belt or V belts. If you were to sit there and turn the wheel back and forth does it squeek. When your driving does it squeek when your not pressing on the brake?

Honestly, when I was following her I did hear it squeaking while she was driving, not pressing the brakes. Now that it has stopped raining, I should go out there and have a look at it.

It has a serpentine belt, and it doesn't squeak whilst turning the wheels.

Thanks again
-Nathan.

Well, I ended up pulling the left front tire off yesterday. Found that the left definitely needs to be replaced. So, I have both the left and front.

As stated before, I was attempting to download the owner's manual from Chevrolet, but they don't support the Corsica.

Does anyone have any information on this job that could help me? How about lug nut torque?

Thanks for any info.

-Nathan.
