Default I broke something

Yesterday I was replacing my starter on my 94 suburban and as i was putting the new one back in i broke this gray clip for, what i presume, is a sensor of some kind. I've looked everywhere on the internet and haven't a lick of information as to what is is. Its gray, of course, and I can spin it. I tried removing it by squeezing the sides and it will not budge. Any ideas or noob shaming comments are welcome, as long as I eventually find out what this sensor is so i can sleep at night.* I haven't started the truck other than to check if i need to shim the starter and i haven't had it running for more than a few minutes so I'm not sure if it tripped any codes.*

Its the knock sensor.. I kinda figured it could have been that, but it just didn't look like it.
